Event Information

In conjunction with Te Aroha Business Association and with support from Matamata-Piako District Council Pride of Place – Community-Led Initiatives Grant, Holistic Safeguarding is delighted to offer this FREE Introduction to Safeguarding and Child Protection training event to all organisations, staff and volunteers working with, supporting children, young people, and families within Matamata and/or across the Matamata-Piako District.


Whether you are new to child protection training or looking to refresh your knowledge, if you or your organisation works with, supports, or has contact with children, young people, or their families, this multi-agency training is for you. This engaging half-day Introduction to Safeguarding and Child Protection multi-agency training, delivered by experienced child safety specialists, will guide you through:


✔ Understanding safeguarding and child protection.  

✔ Recognising the categories and possible indicators of abuse.  

✔ Responding to the different types of disclosures safely.  

✔ Reporting and referring child safety concerns, including allegations against staff.

✔ Recording concerns and evidencing practice.

✔ Creating safer organisations for children and young people and staff.


Learners receive all course resources and a personal certificate upon completion. Please note that Certificates of Attendance will only be issued to participants who attend the full training event.
