Child Safe Policies and Procedures
Mastering Child Safety Policies for Compliance, Essential Safeguards, and Being a Child Safe Organisation.
This training is essential for all organisations working with children and their families, whether to demonstrate child safeguarding and protection compliance, strengthen essential safeguards, or progress towards becoming a Child Safe Organisation. It is ideal learning for those personnel responsible for developing, reviewing or implementing organisational policies.
Learners will examine the key child safety policies and procedures required for compliance while gaining a broader understanding of how child safety policies can be developed to contribute to a robust child safety policy framework. While Child Protection Policies and Codes of Conduct are a key focus, this training also guides learners through best practices for developing, implementing, and maintaining the ongoing effectiveness of these policies.

Through a child safeguarding and protection lens, participants will explore not only how to meet policy requirements but also how to identify and address organisational vulnerabilities that may persist when policies are structured solely around compliance. By engaging with the policy awareness cycle, learners will develop a deeper understanding of how to create, implement, and maintain policies that truly embed child safety within their organisation and support a culture of continuous improvement.
By the end of this class, learners will be able to:
-
Understand what is needed for child safety policies and procedures to demonstrate compliance.
-
Identify organisational vulnerabilities that may persist when policies are structured solely around compliance, and confirm the need for policies to be structured to child safety best practices.
-
Define a policy framework and name the policies and procedures central to being a child-safe organisation.
-
Explain a policy awareness cycle and how the cycle supports best practices in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective child safety practices.
-
State how policies and procedures can effectively support continuous improvement in child safety.
