Safeguarding and Child Protection Training for Early Years

This engaging and informative training is tailored for early years professionals, focusing on safeguarding and protecting our most vulnerable tamariki. It equips staff to identify and respond to child safety concerns, including potential allegations against staff and exceeds sector requirements.

Training is available in three flexible formats:

  • Facilitated In-Person Training

  • Facilitated Exclusive Online Classes via our Virtual Classroom

  • Highly Rated eLearning

For facilitated learning, we offer flexible scheduling, including early evening and weekend options. Contact us to discuss facilitated delivery or register for our highly rated eLearning.

Staff

This child protection training serves as professional development for all staff, volunteers, and helpers across all levels. It can be used for new learning, refresher training, or as foundational knowledge for those with specific safeguarding responsibilities, such as Safeguarding Officers or Champions.

 

For Independent Early Years Professionals, we recommend accessing the eLearning version unless studying as part of a group.

By the end of this class, learners will be able to:

 

  • Explain the differences between safeguarding and child protection.

  • Understand Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the impact these can have on a child's immediate and long-term development, health, and well-being.

  • Identify the different categories and possible indicators of abuse.

  • Recognise the different types of disclosures and know how to respond safely.

  • Understand how concerns may relate to a child's well-being and allegations against staff.

  • Apply best practices when reporting, referring and recording safeguarding and child protect concerns.

  • Demonstrate safeguarding as a shared workforce responsibility.
