Engaging Children & Young People in Safeguarding
Time & Location
About the Event
“Great course to stimulate discussion around how are we engaging with our young people." Learner Testimonial
There have been many cases examples showing how a culture of silence can exist despite organisations thinking they have adequate safeguards in place. The ultimate safeguard for any organisation is its children and young people being empowered to use their voice, and that voice is heard.
A central component of an effective and efficient safeguarding culture is making sure our children and young people are actively engaged as part of that safeguarding culture. Ensuring they have a voice and feel empowered and safe enough to use that voice. This helps to set the foundations for a 'say something' culture, which is the biggest strength when seeking to expose any silences that may be occurring. However, critically creating a 'say something' culture can also support preventing any silence from occurring in the first place.
In this engaging and informative, 2.5hr online class, we guide you through the key knowledge and skills needed to support you in:
- Being able to describe how children and young people interpret being safe.
- Stating the importance of involving children and young people in a safeguarding culture.
- Identifying a range of child and family-friendly safeguarding solutions for empowering the child’s voice.
- Recalling the key safeguarding and child protection points for consideration when encouraging the child's voice.
