Without qualitative learning and development, organisational safeguarding efforts can remain theoretical. Safeguarding and protection learning enables staff to develop the necessary knowledge and skills to implement their safeguarding roles, responsibilities and the organisation's expectations. Whether for their staff, the sectors they lead or both, we support many organisations with their safeguarding learning needs. We make sure all our learning support:

  • Reflects a holistic approach. We are child/adult centred in our practice but safer organisation focused. This safeguards everyone – children/adults, staff and the organisation.

  • Is tailored support, so customers receive the support that best serves their needs. We work to what a customer needs, not to what is available. If we don't already have something that can be tailored to our customers, we create it. Nothing is off-the-shelf.

  • Promotes and encourages safeguarding self-sustainability where possible.

Some Examples of In-house Support

With each organisation, their needs and their resources being different, there is no one-size-fits-all approach. We help organisations in many different ways, from internal bespoke briefings, training and/or events, to developing safeguarding and protection eLearning courses and/or webinars for customers.

Like many customers, the Halberg Foundation started its safeguarding journey by exploring its safeguarding needs and developing a safeguarding action plan. This captured identifying staff's training needs and learning support structures. Which we could support via our Safeguarding Children with Additional Needs eLearning and Named/Designated Person eLearning, as well as other learning options.

Y Central has partnered with Holistic Safeguarding in relation to Safer Organisation and Safeguarding Culture growth. In relation to staff learning, the Y has utilised tailored training events and self-sustainable safeguarding learning options, e.g. our Trainer for Trainer course and having a tailored LMS ready safeguarding and child protection eLearning course developed for them. All increasing their safeguarding culture, safeguarding ownership and reducing their ongoing safeguarding costs.

Golf New Zealand is another market leader taking forward developing their Safer Organisation and Safeguarding Culture focus. Their learning support focuses on self and sector safeguarding self-sustainability. Via tailored internal LMS ready safeguarding and child protection eLearning and specialist training for safeguarding staff. All increasing their safeguarding culture, safeguarding ownership and reducing their ongoing safeguarding costs but primarily ensuring that the golf sector has access to tailored safeguarding support.

New Zealand Rugby League is another sport leader developing its Safer Organisation status and Safeguarding Culture. Their learning support has mirrored tailored LMS safeguarding and child protection eLearning for all those in rugby league.

They have further strengthened their sector support and safeguarding leadership by having a tailored NZRL version of our Sport and Recreation Safeguarding Toolkit. All their rugby league whānau will receive this safeguarding toolkit, as well as specific training, similar to that of a Trainer for Trainer course.  All learning and resources have been designed to support all those in rugby league develop safeguarding cultures and reflect safeguarding best practice.

Our new webinar services are already proving hugely popular. As with all our services, we've made sure our webinars can be tailored to support customers internal training needs. We already have a few customers exploring taking forward bespoke webinar support. For some, this is having a more tailored version of webinars we currently offer.  For others, we are creating bespoke webinars on creating a safeguarding culture for them.
